Frequently Asked Questions
Where Do We Play? Our teams are currently entered in the Broadmeadows Basketball Association (BBA) Junior Domestic Competitions. The stadiums are located in the North Western suburbs of Melbourne. The club offers mixed (boys/girls) teams at U8 level, and separate boys/girls teams from U10 - U19. Boys and Girls compete on Saturdays with the younger age groups typically playing in the mornings, and the older age groups in the afternoon.
Admission At All Venues $2.00 for all players and spectators. (U8 Spectators Free) Scoresheet At All Venues $45.00 per team An Inter-venue pass for spectators will operate between all venues. Ask for the BBA stamp on your hand at the venue where you first pay. Where Do We Train? All teams from U8 - U19 have a 1 hourly training session per week of the playing season.
What If My Child Can’t Make A Game?In the event that your child is sick or has other commitments, contact their team manager as soon as is possible so they can arrange a fill in player if required. If you have concerns about your child’s eligibility to play finals , for example: if your child is away for several weeks, and you can provide a doctor’s certificate or proof of absence say for a family holiday, the Broadmeadows Basketball Association can make exemptions to the qualification requirements needed for player to participate in finals. This must be done at the time of the injury or event, not later in the season. What Happens If My Child’s Team Has A Walkover? If a walkover is called (a walkover is when one whole team cannot play that game) your team manager will contact you as soon as is possible. If the opposing team has called the walkover, no fees or penalties will apply. If your child’s team has called the walkover a financial penalty will be applied to that team. If the BBA has 72 hours or more notice, the fee applied will be $75, if less than 72 hours notice the fee applied will be $90. In order to keep bi-annual membership fees to a minimum, walkover costs are the responsibility of the team involved, the club does not cover these fees.Playing Seasons and Age Groups? There are two seasons per year. The Summer season runs from October through until March with a break from mid-December through until late January. The Winter season runs from May through until August though games are not played on the middle weekend of the school term holidays. To play in a junior domestic competition a player must be under the nominated age as at the 31 December of that year. Eg: to play in U14's for Winter 2012 or Summer Season 2012-13(commences August),the player must be 13 or under at 31/12/2012. If they turn 14 by Dec 31 2012, they must go up to the next age group.
